Miss figuring things out in Outer Wilds? Try Chants of Sennaar

Watch what people do, guess what their words mean and slowly turn a strange place into somewhere you understand.

At first, the people in Chants of Sennaar speak in symbols you can’t read. You watch, compare signs with actions and scribble guesses in your notebook. Eventually a sentence makes sense, and so does the thing you’ve been walking past.

Our Algebra suggests Outer Wilds + Return of the Obra Dinn. Maybe it’s that feeling of making progress because you understand something now. Here, the clues are languages: learning how one group speaks helps you navigate its part of the tower and understand the people living there.

Some players find the walking back and forth frustrating when they’ve missed a clue. Expect to explore between deductions.

Our recommendation

Try it if your favorite reward is realizing your ridiculous little theory was right. Go in knowing as little of the vocabulary as possible.
